The Issue:

For the curious among you, this issue is caused by the new network throttling code Microsoft first introduced into its operating system with Windows Vista SP1. Because multimedia programs require more resources, the Windows networking stack implements a throttling mechanism to restrict the processing of non-multimedia network traffic to 10 packets per millisecond.

In circumstances where you experience a decrease in network performance, you can control the throttling rate to improve network performance in Windows.

To configure the throttling rate, change the value of the NetworkThrottlingIndex registry entry under the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile\NetworkThrottlingIndex

The fix:

1. Click on Start » Run » Enter regedit and click OK.(screenshot)
2. Navigate to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile\
3. The registry is very similar to your file system (Think of My Documents). There are folders, and within those folders are files (called Keys).
Double click on the NetworkThrottlingIndex (DWORD) key, and change its value to FFFFFFFF (hexadecimal).
4. Reboot your computer.

WARNING!
Putting the wrong values in Windows registry might crash your system and lead to lots of problems. It is always recommended to back up your Registry before editing it. On info how to back up your registry:

Beginning with Mumble 1.2, it is now possible to set access on channels based on “tokens” or “passwords”. Passwords are stored in a tokens list in the client for each server, with the client using them as needed. From this point forward, we will refer to channel passwords as “tokens” instead, for clarity.

Using an Access Token

You may add access tokens to your client by selecting “Access Tokens” from the “Server” menu. Click add, type the token (e.g. “letmein”) and click “OK”. It should take effect immediately, granting you whatever permissions are associated with that token group. Remember that tokens are passwords, so treat them as such; pick a token name that is unique and hard to guess.

Example:
There is a channel called “ChannelA” and this channel has a token/password set. You know that the token/password is “god123” so in this case all you need to do is Add a token and type “god123” and click ON.

Here is theSource of this fix.

This fix will change the way your mouse works in-game for both your regular infantry view and when using stationary / vehicle turrets or Choppers.

Currently Battlefield Bad Company 2 has mouse smoothing on by default, with no way of turning the feature off in the game’s settings. Mouse Smoothing normalizes your mouse’s input, “smoothing out” very fast or very slow movements. The result of this smoothing is often aiming that feels floaty or laggy, which is obviously not desirable in an FPS!

Also BFBC2 turrets tend to turn at a much slower rate compared to normal infantry mouse aiming. This fix will solve that problem and opens the potential for turrets to reach their maximum turning speed without affecting infantry movement. This will also make vehicle turrets turn faster, but they have a hard-coded maximum turning speed, so don’t expect to pull a quick 180 with a tank turret anytime soon.

DISCLAIMER: This fix involves changing values within key game files that are relied upon to properly run BFBC2. It is advised that you back up these files prior to editing, and that you don’t go changing any values outside the ones shown below. Use this fix at your own risk, you assume all responsibility if you mess up your game.

Ok, with that out of the way, here are the steps to killing mouse smoothing and fixing those slow turrets:

Go to your My Documents > BFBC2 folder. We will be making changes to the Gamesettings.ini file, as well as the files within the input folder, so go ahead and make back-up copies of those first.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE AN INPUT FOLDER, IT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE USING THE DEFAULT KEYBINDINGS.
You must go to your settings in-game and bind at least one custom control (doesn’t matter which) before the game makes this folder with the proper files inside.

1. Make sure BFBC2 is closed
2. Open GameSettings.ini and make the following changes:

Sensitivity0=0.000000
Sensitivity1=0.000000
Sensitivity2=0.000000

Scheme0Sensitivity=2.50000 <--- This value will be your normal in-game mouse sensitivity, it seems to have no effect on turrets or vehicles. Feel free to experiment with this value and change as necessary. I found 2.5 to be a good compromise between fast turning speed and precision with a 1000DPI mouse, but YMMV. Values from 0.001 to 100+ are valid. InputAcceleration=0 3. Save and close GameSettings.ini 4. Navigate to the input folder, open infantry.dbx using notepad 5. Search for the following line: ConceptPitch 6. Below this line you'll see several similar-looking blocks of data. Make the following changes: http://mkncreations.com/files/images/taesports/infantryinput1.jpg (Auto resize: 265x868px, jpeg) 7. Just Below this section you'll find a similar section with the following header: ConceptYaw Again, find the appropriate block of data and make the following changes: http://mkncreations.com/files/images/taesports/infantryinput2.jpg (Auto resize: 265x868px, jpeg) 8. Save and close infantry.dbx Mouse Smoothing should be effectively disabled at this point. However this change will render turrets and vehicles nearly impossible to use, so make sure you follow the remaining steps... 9. In the input folder, open land.dbx using notepad 10. Search for the following line: ConceptPitch 11. Again, you'll see several similar-looking blocks of data below this section. Make the following changes: http://mkncreations.com/files/images/taesports/landinput1.jpg (Auto resize: 265x868px, jpeg) Note: 10 here is a suggestion, again feel free to experiment. Values below 5 seemed too sluggish for my taste, while values far greater than 20 did not seem to make turrets any faster at turning, just more "squirrely" (changing directions more quickly, making it harder to stay on target). 12. Just Below this section you'll find a similar section with the following header: ConceptRoll Again, find the appropriate block of data and make the following changes: http://mkncreations.com/files/images/taesports/landinput2.jpg (Auto resize: 265x868px, jpeg) 13. Save and close land.dbx Note: The next section applies only to piloting Helicopters (not including the UAV). Gunner seats and the UAV seem to follow the "land" control guidelines for turning speed. Also this fix was only tested for mouse flight. If you fly with a joystick or keyboard-only controls, you'll probably have to play with these settings a bit more to get them to work with your setup. Good Luck! 14. In the input folder, open air.dbx using notepad 15. Same as before, search for the following line: ConceptPitch Below this line you'll see several similar-looking blocks of data. Make the following changes: http://mkncreations.com/files/images/taesports/airinput1.jpg (Auto resize: 265x868px, jpeg) 16. Search for the following line: ConceptRoll Again, find the appropriate block of data and make the following changes: http://mkncreations.com/files/images/taesports/airinput2.jpg (Auto resize: 265x868px, jpeg) Choppers seem to need much higher values to compensate for setting the "main" mouse sensitivity to zero in step 2. Much lower than 100 and the chopper is hard to move. I tried up to 300, and while it worked, it wasn't a significant change. Again, experiment and find a value that suits you. Like turrets, there is a hard-coded maximum turning speed that the game allows, so don't expect this to transform your chopper into a super stunt machine. 17. Save and close air.dbx 18. Start up BFBC2 19. ENJOY! 20. (optional)Curse EA as the servers go down again and go play single-player instead

FOV (Field of View) determines how much of your surrounding area you can see without turning.

Usually in FPS games where this is configurable, you adjust the horizontal field of view so you can see more to the left and right. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 uses vertical FOV instead, so it’s a little harder to work out what you need to set it to.

In order to accomplish that just use the FOV Calculator listed bellow:

Once upon a time when there was CAL they wanted the sv_fps set to a certain value where by doing so it completely messed up the timing of the events on my server. I spend lots and lots of hours trying to figure out what went wrong in my server.cfg and I finally stumbled upon this article after I determined that the issue was in having sv_fps enabled at a custom value. Here is the article hope it comes in handy:

sv_fps on CoD4
November 16th, 2007

Running servers with sv_fps 30 is stupid, because sv_fps is used for physics, etc. also, there are timing issues with events no longer happening on exact frame boundaries, but rather events happening a frame too late.

Here’s my post on the CAL Forums.

You can’t fix a majority of the problems with scripting, you’d need engine source to properly fix it, instead of using bandaids (scripting)

When you raise sv_fps to 30, quite a few things happen, and there are more downsides to raising it than upsides.. also; there are more issues with it being anything other than 20.. I just post the signifigant ones.

– Physics get whacky. Some/most/all physics that are hard coded to sv_fps 20 wake up too early/too late. They can be fixed, but they won’t be as accurate as they would be with it being 20, since 30 doesn’t divide evenly. Timers are the most common thing to get broken.. Any animations that are controlled server side can also be broken.

– G_RunFrame() is called at 33.3ms intervals on the server. Sometimes, it will get called a frame or 2 late, or 2 early, because of rounding errors.

– Prediction gets fubared, since the built-in engine lag of 50ms is reduced to 33ms, which means there isn’t as much data to predict/interpolate for. High pingers notice this more than low pingers (you can even debug prediction errors to see for yourself)

– Antilag is affected, but nobody uses it because it’s broken. I think IW used/uses a point release from ID with busted antilag.

I’ve always told people to stick with using sv_fps of 20, because things are hard coded around it, and fixing them gets messy.

***This works only for Windows based Ventrilo clients.***
The idea behind that volume normalization is to make everyone in vent the same volume. No matter how loud your mic is or your setting are after you enable this you should sound just right for everyone else. So here is the steps you need to follow:

– Go to Setup

– Enable Direct Sound

– Select the SFX Button

– Select Compressor and click Add.

– Under Compressor Properties use the following settings

– Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)

– Attack = 0.01

– Release = Around 500

– Threshold = Around -30

– Ratio = 100

– Pre delay = 4.0

What the settings do:

Gain
How much volume you feed into the compressor. Not really relevant unless everyone is too quiet, then you can turn this up a little; turning it up too much will sound EXTREMELY *%*%ty.

Attack
How fast volume change will happen. example: setting this to 500 means that any-
thing coming in will only be dropped in volume after a half a second. for vent this should
be set as low as possible.

Release
how fast the compressor stops changing things. not really that relevant with vent, setting it around 500 is good for voice material.

Threshold
This sets the point where we actually start changing whats coming in. Whereas 0 is the absolute loudest you can have for an input, -60 is super quiet. Average users will probably come in somewhere around -25 to -15, with the occaisional few being really quiet, which is why I have this set so low.

Ratio
How much any sound below the set threshold gets compressed and/or modified in the volume department.
If you still want to hear SOME volume variation then set this lower (2-4)… the higher you set it the closer in volume everyone will be.

Pre delay
Mostly just deals with processing; with computer and digital processors they can look ahead a few milliseconds to see what needs to be dropped in volume or changed before it actually comes through the speakers. Highest is ideal.

This is what you need to know if you are willing to jump in the internet relay Chat World and explore “new oprtunities” uknown for you up until this very moment. This tutorial will help with setting up your mIRC Client and joining GameSurge IRC Network.

First step is to go to: http://www.mirc.com and download the latest mIRC Client.

After you download the program install it. As soon as you do so open the program and most likely you will be asked to register. just wait a few and click OK each time. You can go on without registering it for years:) or you can be a 1337 h4x0r and get a keygen which is by no way the corect way of registering any products and I DO NOT recomend it.

This is what you should see after you click the OK button.

http://taclan.net/files/mirconnect.png

Fill in the blanks. No need for you to enter your REAL name or your REAL email address.

Next you need to select a server. GameSurge.net(or something like that) is what you are looking for since this is the most used IRC Network by most NA gamers and league.

Ok, you’re ready to endeavor into the wild world of irc.gamesurge.net, but you have no where to go. You need to join channels in order to chat with other cyberathletes, or else you’ll be staring at the blank welcome screen to Gamesurge forever. You need to set up an account on gamesurge in order for you to authenticate yourself each time you connect. Most channels require you to be authenticated, and in order for you to gain any access (power) to channels, you must be auth’d.

Go to www.gamesurge.net and click “Account Registration”. Follow the registration, etc. and wait for the email that will have your auth information. It will come in a form of the following:

/authserv auth name password

This here is the key in opening the magical doors that IRC has to offer.

Now that you have your auth information, we have to set it so that it automatically authenticates you whenever you connect to Gamesurge. While looking at your IRC, go to Tools, Options.

That cute little window will then pop up. Instead of going to Servers like when we picked the server we wanted to do, we want to chose Options.

http://taclan.net/files/mircoptions.png

Here you have some nifty little options you have at your disposal, but you can mess with them later. Right now we want to click “Perform…”

http://taclan.net/files/mircperform.png

Make sure you check that little box “Enable perform on connect”, or else this whole process is rather pointless. In the blank box provided, type anything you want your IRC to automatically do whenever you connect. Whatever you put in there, make sure that your authserv command is the number one thing. It isn’t necessary, but your second command should be “//mode $me +x”. It isn’t needed, but this command hides your ip from people trying to get it.

After those two commands, you’ll want to type in any channels you’ll want to automatically connect to. Type them as “/join #channel” (channel being whatever channel you want to connect to). After you have everything, hit OK.

Well you are done and now can enjoy the world of IRC.

if you want to “pimp” your mIRC client there are tons of scripts and other IRC clients that you can use. Google can help you out with that.

Channel(s) that you should idle:
#taesports
